Rich Curtis is a senior lecturer in the Department of Applied Economics and Management in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences at Cornell University. He has a B.S. in physics from St. Lawrence University and an M.B.A. from Cornell University.

Rich teaches the challenging AEM core Finance class. He complements discussions of finance theory with applications to corporate, investment, and personal financial decisions. Rich has also taught Finance and Accounting for Manufacturing (at Cornell’s Johnson Graduate School of Management), Introduction to Accounting and Finance (at the Cornell Law School), and Investments, Security Analysis, and Portfolio Management (at SUNY Binghamton), to name a few of his teaching experiences.

Rich is director of the AEM Certificate in Business Management Program, an intensive 7 1/2–week summer business immersion for non-business majors that includes 3 academic courses (Rich teaches Principles of Finance), a New York City field trip, Cornell Outdoor Education team-building and leadership programs, a consulting project, and a job search presentation.

Rich received the 2001 Professor of Merit Award, voted on by graduating seniors in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences (CALS) at Cornell. He was the recipient of the 2003 Panhellenic and Interfraternity CALS Faculty Appreciation Award and the 2005 CALS Innovative Teacher Award. Based on the results of a BusinessWeek survey of juniors and seniors in Cornell's Undergraduate Business Program, Rich was honored in 2006 as Cornell's Favorite Undergraduate Business Professor.
