Hope has a Master's degree in Agricultural Economics from the University of Illinois. For her Master's thesis, she studied the household economic impacts of a private-sector development initiative on a community of maize producing smallholders located in the Mexican state of Chiapas.
She intends to continue working on problems relating poverty and agricultural markets in Central America for her PhD.
