Master of Professional Studies-AgricultureThe M.P.S.-Agriculture emphasizes coursework and a problem-solving project, rather than research. Persons who have already embarked on professional careers and who are seeking to complement their professional skills often select the M.P.S. degree program. Note: The M.P.S.-Agriculture offered in the field of Applied Economics and Management emphasizes training in applied economics and differs from the broad, interdisciplinary M.P.S.-Agriculture offered by the field of International Agriculture and Rural Development. M.P.S.-Agriculture Degree Requirements

| • 30 credit hours |
| • At least 24 credits in courses numbered 400 or higher |
| • 20 credits must be taken in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences (CALS) |
| • A maximum of 6 credit hours may be earned through the problem-solving project |
| • A maximum of 6 credit hours may be earned outside CALS, either in another college at Cornell University or elsewhere; these credits must be related to the subject of study and completed not more than 5 years before admission |
| • 2 registration units |
| • Completion of a problem-solving project |
| • Minimum grade point average of 2.5 |
| • Completion of the degree within 4 years of admission |

This is not a comprehensive list of the requirements for this graduate field. Students should check with their Special Committee chair for additional course requirements, and students should also check with the Director of Graduate Studies and the Graduate Field Assistant for additional requirements of the Graduate School. The Environmental Management Concentration prepares graduates to work as multidisciplinary team members in the environmental management professions. It is offered through 5 departments at Cornell:

In addition to the M.P.S.-Agriculture requirements, M.P.S.-Environmental Management students must take the following courses.

Cornell University offers a Peace Corps Option in its M.P.S.-Agriculture degree program that combines interdisciplinary coursework with Peace Corps field experience. Students complete approximately two semesters of intensive on-campus study followed by a two-year related overseas assignment with the Peace Corps.
The Peace Corps Option is available in the field of AEM as well as any of the other graduate fields at Cornell offering the M.P.S.-Agriculture except the field of International Agriculture and Rural Development.
