Student Life

Diversity Programs

Our students come from 33 states and 5 continents, 39% are female, and over 30% are students of color. We’re proud of our diversity and appreciate how it enriches our students’ personal and professional lives.

We encourage you to visit the new AEM Diversity Program web site for links to resources, information on upcoming events and opportunities, and answers to common questions and concerns.

For web links and information related to other multicultural student programs and organizations at Cornell, visit Undergraduate Admissions.

Recent Events

Among our many activities, we participate in the summer LEAD program for high-achieving high school students and we award $500 book awards to deserving students.

In September, the Minority Business Student Association (MBSA) sponsors a welcome reception for students of color. Named SUMMIT (Session for Undergraduate Minorities in Management: Investment in Talent), the event features small-group discussions led by MBSA members on the first-year experience, academic success, internships, mentorship, and extracurricular opportunities. MBSA also hosts an annual Diversified Business Professional Forum, sponsored by Credit Suisse.

The Society for Women in Business hosts an annual Professional Women's Forum. The Fall 2006 forum, "Influencing Up," was sponsored by Aramark and conducted by Alisa Cohn, named one of the top 10 executive coaches in 2006.

Defining Diversity and Inclusion top

Cornell's Undergraduate Business Program defines diversity as the wealth of differences and similarities that enrich our students, faculty, and staff. These include race, gender, ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation, economic background, and country of origin. We define inclusion as a climate that encourages this broad spectrum and values the multiplicity of ideas and cultural attitudes contributed by it.
