AEM students put their leadership and teamwork
skills to good use outside the classroom.
They are leaders of student clubs and organizations,
active volunteers on campus and in the community,
sorority and fraternity members, varsity athletes
and outdoor enthusiasts, scientists, writers,
musicians, and artists.
The opportunities to "get a life" at
Cornell are mind-boggling.
Student Organizations
Of the over 500 student organizations at Cornell,
several have a direct connection to the study
of business and applied economics. These student-run
organizations are open to all students.
Cornell's Undergraduate Business Program selects
outstanding juniors and seniors for membership in Beta
Gamma Sigma, the international honor society
that recognizes outstanding academic achievement
of students in business programs accredited by AACSB
International. Juniors in the top 7% and seniors
in the top 10% of their class are eligible for membership.
The Food
Marketing Fellows Program gives selected undergraduate
students entering their senior year and a small
number of graduate students an intimate, focused
perspective of the food industry. Activities
include a trip to Chicago to attend the Food
Marketing Institute's annual convention, special
courses, and an international study trip during
winter break. In 2008, the Food Marketing Fellows
will travel to Great Britain.
Agribusiness Fellows Program
The
Agribusiness Fellows Program provides selected
students with an unparalleled opportunity to gain
a global perspective on agribusiness management.
Sponsored in part by Cargill, this program features
a study trip to explore the food and agribusiness systems of foreign countries. In May 2007, the Agribusiness
Fellows traveled to Poland.
Farm Credit Fellows Program
The
Farm Credit Fellows Program, sponsored by the
Northeast Farm Credit Associations, gives selected
students firsthand experience in the financial
markets serving agriculture. Activities include
a trip to New York City's financial markets during
winter break and a one-week apprenticeship with
a Farm Credit office.
Becoming president of the AEM Ambassadors has allowed me to meet so many amazing alums from all different industries and the connections are endless! A prime example of an alumnus who continually gives back to the AEM program is Wayne Meichner, President of Polo Ralph Lauren Retail and a member of Cornell's Business Advisory Council. He has become a great role model for me and has inspired me to give back to AEM after I graduate.
